The Bairn bag is brilliant, customer service is equally brilliant. I purchased a Bairn Messenger in March 2024 in one of their limited editions (salt & pepper colour and fabric made of Nettle fibers). As soon as I took it out of the box it was pure delight. What a great looking bag! The fabric has a soft feel, smooth to the touch. I examined the details and found the stitching and overall finishing to be perfect. The zippers operate smoothly with no snagging or difficulty. The bright orange interior allows me to see everything I’ve placed the inside cavity. The interior lining is too, a soft feeling material that has what I’d describe as a thickness to resist wear I assume. This bag has two front pockets under its flap which sits freely over the front of the bag. I found keeping my cell phone and reading glasses in these pockets is excellent for quicker access over opening the main compartment. Speaking of, the main compartment is mostly a simple cavity with a padded partition. There is a zippered pocket to place smaller items away from everything else. On one side of the partition, my iPad Pro 11 inch is a good fit even with its Zugu case on it. As the main cavity lacks little pockets for the most part, I use smaller tech bags to contain my smaller trinkets. Any small bag sized approximately 9X6X2.5 inches is a great fit. The Bairn can accommodate a few of these smaller bags in different configurations so things stay tidy. I also find using a 14 to 18 oz Yeti and or Hydroflask easily stands upright so fresh water can be carried without difficulty as the bag easily still closes. The shoulder strap is 2 inches in width and feels extremely robust. But no padding comes with it. I’ve used it as is and found it to be comfortable on shorter outings. But when the bag is loaded up and I’m putting in extra steps, a padded area on the strap would be nice. I remedied this by ordering one off Amazon and tried it out. Yup, more comfortable when the bag is loaded. I mean, a 10 litre bag can get heavy. Something to keep in mind. I ordered the Cobra buckles with mine. Mostly because I think it’s the best looking option. They do look good and are very robust feeling. But they are also on the heavy side. They add a bit of weight over plastic connectors or G hooks. I knew that going in as I’ve had them on other products. But I think it gives the Bairn a formidable appearance and I have no issues opening and closing them when I’m on the move. Anyways, I really looked hard to find something a little closer to home to meet by messenger bag need, but really nothing compared well with the Trakke Bairn. I’m in Canada and they use UPS super fast service so it’s only a few days and it’s on my doorstep. Being in Canada, expect a little duty/tax added to your cost. Can’t be avoided. I must add that during my process I ran into a small issue and I reached out to Trakke customer service. I did get a reply and immediate remedy to my situation. I can’t say enough about how professional and excellent the customer service is. It’s great to know that for future purchases. Overall my experience has been excellent. So much, that I ordered a second Bairn bag in a different colour. I find myself amused that I can’t find anything this good looking in North America and have to shop in Scotland. I should do a DNA check, maybe I have roots in ‘ole Caledonia. Given I now have two Bairns, I see myself using these and pushing aside the others I have for now. The Bairn is unique and functional, so it’s hard to leave it behind for something that is black and made of boring nylon. I highly recommend the Bairn bag and shopping at Trakke. You get what you pay for here and this is A1 quality.

I had been looking to buy a less cycling specific bag for quite a while and this one popped up on my radar. It wasn’t cheap but looked quality so ordered one back in January. Several months in I use it for urban days out to with various items of edc in it. Very happy with how it looks and performs. Yes I would prefer an outside pocket or the flap on top to be wider. But the key thing is I love its simplicity. This bag is a stayer.

Great bag and fantastically well made. I have only used it a few times but a great size - not too big or too small. The quality of the materials are excellent and the cobra clips are overkill but so satisfying that click!
