Two limited edition bags that reimagine the idea of a 'souvenir'.
Scottish design has long been associated with traditional craft, but whether it’s tartan or tweed, sometimes it can all get a little bit twee. To celebrate the year of Scottish Innovation, Design and Architecture, the mavericks at Local Heroes decided to show the world what contemporary Scottish design really looks like.
From their pavilion at Edinburgh Airport, they showcased a selection of unique pieces made by some of Scotland’s finest young designers. Each was asked to reimagine the souvenir, creating something that embodies travel and embraces bold colours and patterns.
We exhibited two limited edition bags in a limited edition Saltire blue, alongside our friends from Instrmnt, Karen Mabon, Rebecca Torres, Tom Pigeon, Hilary Grant, Laura Spring, Risotto and Warriors Studio.
From beach-towels to bespoke watches, each item was available to buy during the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2016, and the event was heralded as one of the must-see attractions in the city.
Local Heroes was curated by Stacey Hunter.
