Originally developed in Switzerland in WW2, Salt & Pepper fabric is made using nettle fibres spun into a 2-ply yarn that gives it its distinctive look.

This iconic fabric has been reverse-engineered in Scotland, by local weavers, dyers & finishers to create a 14oz, weatherproof bag cloth that gives this Bairn messenger bag a truly heritage flavour.

This limited edition has all the same specs & features as our standard Cobra Bairn Messenger. The only change is the outer fabric.

    HERITAGE

    During WW2, Switzerland was surrounded by countries at war, and could not access cotton to manufacture fabric for military gear.

    Instead, they used locally grown stinging nettles to create a super strong fibre that reduced their reliance on cotton, and 'Salt & Pepper' fabric was born!

    You might recognise this fabric from one of the most iconic backpacks of all time - the Swiss Military Backpack.
